[Kai]

An amused chuckle rolled from Kai's mouth at Ellie's protest of 'not being that drunk'. He had seen people like her before, mainly new Fairy Tail members, and if they weren't used to heavy drinking and did it just to impress other guild members, it was typically him who ended up playing babysitter. It wasn't that he minded, especially with Ellie, but still, she was drunk, and if she wouldn't admit it he would need to keep her here even if it came to blows.

However once she was actually on the bed beside him, she seemed agreeable enough, and had curled up into a small ball next to him. Though, it seemed that she was determined to give him the bed and sleep on the floor, though what kind of guy would he be if he let her do that? "Nah, just a sec. I think I have something to solve this." Sitting up he opened up the space to his pocket dimension, pulling out a bed that was identical the one they lay on. This one appeared next to the original, a sort of 'guest bed' that he carried around with him when needed.

Getting onto his hands and knees Kai carefully crawled over Ellie's curled up form and onto the second bed, which was pushed up against the first. Laying down on his side he looked at the small girl before him, wondering just what he had done to be so lucky as to have met her. She had shut her eyes, but soon after had reopened them to look at Kai. The fact that things were spinning for her was evidence of one of two things, the first and more likely of the two was that she was truly drunk, or the second option was that she found him dizzyingly attractive. Though this second option was far less likely than the first. In any case Kai got up and went to each lantern, snuffing them out one by one, and with the shutting of the door to the upstairs, plunged the room into near darkness. One could only see silhouettes in this darkness. He carefully felt his way back to his bed and laid down under the blankets. "Try not to throw up on my bed, alright?" he asked light-heartedly. "If you need anything just wake me up, but if that's all, good night Ellie." If Ellie had been expecting him to have her sleep on the floor then she had another thing coming, and if she had expected him to sleep int he same bed as her, well...if she invited him he would, but not unless she said it outright.

Rolling over, Kai pulled the blankets up from the foot of the bed and closed him eyes, trying to drift off to sleep.

The blonde blinked in surprise when her companion mentioned that he had something to fix this debate about who would have the bed and who would have the floor, and it turned out that the latter point was no longer an option. From the pocket dimension he had talked about earlier, Kai pulled out a bed, identical to the one that Ellie was currently curled up on, and placed it beside the original. She looked at the bed with wide, curious eyes, still in awe of the strange ability that her friend had. At least now she understood it, but that didn’t mean to say it was the norm for her yet; far from it, especially when he was able to store and pull out such big objects with ease.

He crawled over her on his hands and knees, something that made her giggle slightly as she refused to move just to make things more difficult for her companion, but he had no trouble getting over her to lay on the bed that had been placed directly next to the one she would be crashing in for the night. They simply looked at each other for a while, with all of Ellie’s thoughts spinning around in her drunken mind. A recurring theme to her muddled recollections were about how captivating Kai’s eyes were, and how she couldn’t look away. It gave her a good excuse not to shut her eyes and feel dizzy, that was for certain. Before long, the white-haired mage got up and started to turn off all the lanterns in the room, eventually shutting the door and plunging the basement room into pitch blackness. She let out a startled squeak of surprise, although she was not scared of the dark whatsoever; it had just shocked her a little from it being so light to being so dark. Her eyes searched in the gloom to find Kai and where he was, but to no avail.

The next thing she knew, her companion was back in the other bed at her side, jokingly telling her not to throw up in his bed. She stuck her tongue out at him even though he wouldn’t see as much and giggled softly. “I won’t, I promise. It was only two glasses of wine, after all.” She pointed out, which made it seem worse that she had been so drunk on such a small amount. It probably didn’t help that she had drunk the strong alcohol quickly, far too quickly for her less-than-tolerance of alcohol to take.

He told her to wake him up if she needed anything, and she nodded her head before remembering that it was dark and he wouldn’t be able to see her. “Alright.” Her voice had fallen to a soft whisper to match the fact that they would be going to sleep, and she did in fact feel pretty damn tired. She yawned softly, covering her mouth with a hand as a force of habit. She heard the soft rustle of her companion rolling over and adjusting his bed sheets, and her eyes slowly flickered shut, her breathing slowing considerably until she felt herself drift off. One thing she hadn’t mentioned to Kai that she probably should have done since he had decided to set up camp so close beside her, was that in her sleep she liked finding things to hold and cuddle. Usually she would hug the end of a protruding quilt that she slept under, but in her tiredness hadn’t pulled the duvet over herself.

She had fallen asleep in a record time of no more than five minutes, and already her arms began to twitch and a small, disgruntled kind of noise left her lips. She uncurled herself from her comfortable foetus sleeping position and used her hands to search for something, anything to hold. She completely bypassed the pillow she was resting her head on, and her arms found something better in the bed next to her. She shuffled across the two beds, arms snaking around the figure of Kai. A satisfied sigh left her lips, her apparent distress over and done with as a sleepy smile touched her lips. Sleepovers as a child had been interesting, as she sometimes awoke holding a very terrified-looking friend. She couldn’t explain her strange sleeping habit, and neither could anybody else, especially since she never told anyone about her past which might hold the answers.

As Kai lay there, listening to the largely muffled sounds of the party above, he heard the breathing of the girl in the bed next to his. He could hear her breath slow to a point where he knew she was fast asleep, and now he felt it was safe enough for him to drift off as well. She had given her word to not throw up on his bed, but still, words couldn't stop what the body did.

Eventually, Kai's breathing slowed too, as did his heart rate, and he was suspended in that moment between sleep and consciousness when he heard a little movement in the bed next to him. He figured it was just Ellie readjusting the blankets around her, so he paid it little mind. He was tired, it had been a long day and he didn't want to be tired the next morning, but the moment that there was pressure on the side of his bed his eyes opened. He slowly turned over in his bed, and could see the silhouette of Ellie, moving towards him from the other bed. Before he could say or do much else, she had reached out and wrapped her arms around Kai. For a moment he shivered at the touch, so soft and smooth, but one he found that she wasn't letting go, he settled back down. For good measure he put his own arm around Ellie, feeling the warmth radiating off her body. With his free hand he opened up the side of his blankets and tossed it over her, as she had slipped out from the other set of covers.

As they were, Kai and Ellie's bodies were pushed up against each other, and Kai felt a particular warmth inside him, one that he was familiar with but never had acted upon. Ellie seemed to like him, that was for sure, as to how much she liked him, only time would tell. But, for tonight, they were each other's warmth, and he was happy with that. She reminded him of his sister a bit, he and Mizuki had been so close, but Ellie...she was of a certain mold, one that was strong yet gentle, proud and loud, and Kai liked it.

Once again he closed his eyes and wrapped his other arm around Ellie, his heart slowed with his contented state, and within a few more heartbeats, he drifted off into the world of dreams happy to have such company that night.
