She had begun to give up hope of the blonde following after her as she walked out into the cooling night air, and thus she was suitably surprised when she heard him shout for her to wait. Cassandra stopped, orange eyes wide with curiosity as she looked back over her shoulder at Alduin rushing to join her. He said that it would be his pleasure to walk her home, and continued to say that she was a pretty girl. Her reaction spoke volumes. A crimson blush tinted her cheeks and her eyes widened to almost impossible levels, having to avert her gaze in an embarrassed manner. “T-T-Thank you…” She managed to stutter out eventually, still overwhelmed by the unbelievable compliment she had received. She wasn’t used to such compliments about beauty, or compliments in general. All she had ever gotten as a child were barrages of insults, about not being good enough and never being good enough to be her father’s daughter. She saw herself as a child, and everybody else did as well, so how could beauty be found anywhere in her appearance? Apparently there were sparks of it, so much so that Alduin had complimented her about it.
They walked side by side, gentle sounds of Cassandra’s heeled shoes clacking on the cobbled ground as they did so. A small smile had found its way to her lips upon being graced with his company once more, and try as she might, she couldn’t get rid of that smile. That being said, why would she? Such smiles were rare, the ones caused by other people that truly, or seemed to care. While they walked, Alduin spoke up and asked what would happen if she, the damsel in distress, was assaulted again. It could be taken in one of two ways, but all she immediately thought of was the romantic fantasy novels she was so avidly into. She pictured herself as a princess, and her companion as a prince, with her being rescued by the gallant young man before asking for her hand in marriage…
The very thought made her blush once more, and she glanced over to the side to try and force the colouration of her cheeks away before he asked what she was blushing about. She giggled softly at the comment Alduin had made earlier about her being a damsel in distress, not crossing her mind that it could be perceived as her being weak and helpless. Even if she had realised, she would probably agree with him; she was weak and helpless, of that she was sure. In spite of being a mage and being part of a strong guild, she was still weak, helplessly so. She remembered back to their first encounter, when she had written fireworks in the air and created wonderful sparks of multiple colours. Perhaps one of her harmless magic shows wouldn’t go amiss now.
She held up a dainty hand, deft fingers working to create a small sentence reading, ‘Tonight has been wonderful’. Multi-coloured bursts of flower petals rained down from the words and flew up into the air, mixed in with shiny undertones that could be perceived to be moonlight. They weren’t far away from her apartment now, she noticed, and wished to make the most out of the time she had left with Alduin.
