The sword didn't respond in a meaningful manner. What a drag. How... what was it called again? Anticlimactic? That was what Myria thought as the floating sword continued to chop like a woodcutter, except what it was chopping were bodies instead of trees. It did its job almost lazily, even, or at least that was how it seemed to the hotblooded warrior. It's still cool that it's a sword that fights by itself, but if it isn't going to fight against me or with me, the coolness is severely diminished. Myria judged, nodding to herself as both she and the autonomous blade each picked off a pair of the advancing drones. "Ah, I guess you're busy, Mister Sword. Or you don't understand me. Galiboop." she announced, slipping what was on her mind directly into the slide that was her tongue.
"I'll be going then, you go about your business~" she intoned as a goodbye, and for a moment or two, as she went off on her way to where more of the zombies were congregating, she had her instincts trained on the blade should it attempt a surprise attack on her or something. However, it went on keeping its position and its demeanor, both very predictable, and since she was getting further through the raised crowd, so she eventually abandoned keeping tabs on it; hopefully it did not shoot out lasers or anything. Stealthy attacks were annoying; what kind of attack was that that you didn't allow your opponent to get to fight you, too?
Speaking of stealthy, however... "A scream?" That was the opposite of stealthy, but that wasn't very good either--- that meant someone was having a problem. And then there were other voices, gleeful ones... was that Glabiloo girl? So she probably isn't the one in trouble... Now, don't get Myria wrong, she was no random do-gooder, but the mission was to protect Shirotsume and its people... and it would feel like she lost if she didn't give it everything she got, even if it was a side-quest involving people having to be rescued for having a picnic while a zombie invasion was going on. She was getting pretty aimless too, so that was a good goal to have--- "Let's plow 'em! Another one, Mangekyou!" That would be a third sword, slipping out of nothingness into reality, summoned.
As if in response to Myria's newfound enthusiasm, a fresh--- well, it might not be right to call them fresh, considering their spoiling by the second--- batch of zombies reared their drooping, drooling heads out of the far neck of the woods; reinforcements for their opponents, although they probably weren't smart enough for tactics or morale. While this contained still the usual slow-moving variety, it now added in the on-all-fours faster version, a bunch of which reached Myria (and the other two mission-takers and the screaming children, although the swordswoman was unaware of that) as she attempted to move forward towards the source of the pained yodel.
She slashed, three strikes now instead of two or one, as her blades kissed her palms and flew about in the air, in succession; they all fell the usual slowpokes, but mostly by accident--- she had been aiming for this quicker fiends, and she missed. They growled at her like ugly, misshapen parodies of wolves, circling her even as she pressed on, looking for a point of weakness to jump on. "Seems like I'll have to up the ante." She should summon another sword, so that she could dispatch these undead faster, but she should be sure that wouldn't be an opening for this saliva-dripping bastards... should she just use up her two duplicates right now to get through, though, with Parallel? What were her chances of hitting? She wished her little wait wouldn't be too late for completion...
"Oi, you screamers! Don't die until I get to you!" she shouted, a little frustrated. Aah... this is what I get for asking for more action, huh? A hostage situation and more and better mooks. I have the worst pacing. One hunter zombie leaped, and her feet, her body, shifted to dodge, and she slashed, gashing the monster's side... it wasn't down yet, though. It snarled as stagnant blood dripped from its wound, its fellow crumbly hyenas echoing the tattered cry.
Myria grit her teeth, and yet again, charged.
The dance had just begun. The dance was on.
Notes: Scenario Master has increased the difficulty! Though our D-rank assassin Aki would still probably handle this with ease. Regenerated 10p from the last two posts... and used that up again for a third sword. 90p still.
