``Do you accept?``
"Yes."
``Then awaken, Devourer.``
Warmth. Warmth was the first thing it felt. It flooded upon it from ahead, the sun's rays penetrating through thick foliage and bathing the unconscious figure there. A silhouette that was laying among a perfectly spherical outline of mud, as if the earth had upturned and riding along within it's surface was it, the Dark Devourer. The scene was not far from the truth, for the creature who had arrived surely had been resurrected and birthed that day, as a new being. It was a quiet delivery, as the nature surrounding the disturbance knew the dark energy oozing from the location and had vacated the direct vicinity, leaving in it's wake silence. Silence that would greet It as it's eyes fluttered, difficulty in opening apparent as it continued it's silent struggle. Then pain, light shot through at last when the unconscious action succeeded and revealed two deep purple eyes. The creature's mouth opening then in an even more subconscious reaction as a sound erupted from it and something suddenly shielded the light. Curiously it looked upon the things hovering over it's head and found ten digits wiggling, as it had felt. It realized then that they were apart of it's existence. "Hands."
It lay there for a while, staring at it's hands as the elongated and peach colored forms wiggled and moved to it's whim. Words and meanings flooding into it's consciousness after it's realization of it's hand and the images surrounding it began possessing sequences of words to convey themselves. To convey.. "herself." She was a she. She knew she was she just as she knew she was in a forest. How she knew the strange shapes surrounding her with wide arching heads were known as trees and the things she identified as heads were their branches, their leaves. But she could not remember why she knew these things or why she was there. "Hungry." "Hungry? That is why I am here. Because I am hungry." Her eyes slowly lightened as the dullness of unknowing slowly faded. Soon she would rise, sitting upright by more unconscious commands and her stomach would growl it's hungry moan. Confirming to her the reason of her existence. But she saw nothing edible, nothing desirous. "Who do I eat?" The voice she had heard sounded again in correspondence to her thoughts and she realized it was her thoughts speaking out loud. "Can you hear them?" Curiously she questioned the trees, though found them to be quiet and useless. They did not even appear delicious, as her stomach wished. "You're quite useless to me, I no longer will speak to you."
She'd turn her gaze away then, eyes looking around in stoic hunger, only to find nothing. The animals that should of been there, as she knew for some reason that they would be, where not. And the various green and browns of the natural constructs did not appeal to her appetite. "What should I do?" Turning back down, Devourer's eyes settled upon the rest of her person, and she watched as her ankle moved to her will. Then her knees and feet, wiggled about, curiously following her every subconscious command. Yet, she found that it would not move as she wished it to. Frowning visibly she'd slap at her leg before issuing a vocal demand heavily laced with impatience and confusion, "Why won't you move? I want to move. I want to find food!" Her legs did not obey, they only twitched and the sting of her slap was felt so vividly that it was like the entirety of her body had felt it. It felt kind of good. She'd slap again, this time the other leg, and something else happened: a smile. It stretched her face and released an odd sensation. A feeling. "Joy?" Again and again she'd slap her legs, her smile growing with each hit which became heavier and heavier, until they became punches, her fists having instinctively curled up. Soon another mystery was occurring: laughter. As she giggled and chortled with satisfaction to the painful sensations occurring. Stopping only when pain faded into nothing, leaving her thighs numb from their recent abuse.
Then boredom.
Then hunger remembered.
Clueless she sat there, not sure how to move because she did not know what she was as she knew what other's were. It did not make sense to her, why she could not command her body to move as she could speak to it subtle movements. But she was getting angry waiting there, for something to come to her, to feed her. And before she knew it, she was hysterically screaming. Rage and confusion dictating her yelling into action and it'd echo loudly throughout the forest, and probably, even could be heard along the borders of the nearby city, Sindria. A howling she hoped another of her kind would hear, or that prey would be attracted to. And until something, anything, responded, she'd continue her body's sudden frenzied exclamation.
