SHADOW RUNNER : NOVICE | Shadow runners focus primarily on breaking and entering, without the breaking part mind you. The most skilled shadow runners are able to enter and exit even the most heavily fortified locations, magically protected or not, without leaving a trace. With that said, a majority of runners also have several other assets to… complement the shady nature of their forte.
| PHASING ABILITY NAME: Ghost Walking ABILITY RANK: Novice ABILITY DESCRIPTION: The caster envelops itself in magical power in order to shed the more troublesome physical aspects of their body. In doing so, they take on a ghastly, translucent appearance unbound by the more prevalent laws of this world, preventing them from interacting with physical objects. While the ability is toggled actions such as passing through walls and avoiding non-magical attacks becomes child’s play. In exchange for shedding their physical form, the caster becomes especially vulnerable to magical effects (they’re twice as strong with regards to damage or duration), particularly attacks, barriers and conditional effects (sleep, paralysis etc). At novice levels, the magic only applies to the caster and their carried possessions from the original point of casting. Upon reaching higher tiers of skill, the magic may be applied to a larger scale, encompassing a greater number of persons and larger objects. POWER COST: 10p/post
| MARYOKU SPECTROSCOPY ITEM NAME: Faerie Eye ITEM DESCRIPTION: As the name suggests, it’s literally an eye taken from a faerie that’s been implanted as a replacement for the caster. Consisting of an eerie violet hue, this organic replacement acts roughly the same as the original save for a few key differences.
ABILITY NAME: Faerie Sight ABILITY RANK: Novice ABILITY DESCRIPTION: The vision granted by the faerie eye has no differences compared to normal vision save for the fact that it’s able to view magical power and its residuals in a spectrum of colors. With this ability, non-visible barriers, attacks and other influences fueled by magic become apparently obvious. (Illusions of equal or lower strength are dispelled.) At novice levels the caster is unable to discern the specific nature of magic; however with proper expertise and training, they would be able to understand more intricate properties of spells that are of lower than the sight’s. | EMULATION (MARYOKU MAKE) (LOCKED) This power will serve primarily to copy certain magical signatures, allowing the caster to more easily bypass magical systems without triggering protective mechanisms and aids the caster in remaining undetected. In order to properly copy the magical signature, the caster must first effectively analyze the magic (via the faerie eye or some other method).
| ESCAPE ARTIST (LOCKED) A non-magical knack for effectively hiding in the shadows and erasing one’s detectable presence. This develops with a wealth of experience and mastery of a less than… outstanding profession.
