Lynn Xin Fitting, heh? To be quite frank, Lynn had never really understood how a name could be fitting. Well, a name like ‘Bloodthirster the gory’ could be fitting, since indicative, but Lynn? She could imagine quite a lot of people sharing a name with her, really. Fat people, boney people, serious people, jokesters. There was nothing meaningful about it at all. Still, she just figured it was some kind of compliment, and hey, she actually did like her name. It wasn’t as bad as, like, Claus or so. Who in their right mind would call their child Claus? “Thanks.”, was all she said in response to that, though, because there was still that other, more important matter to tend to. The whole slavery ordeal. She still really wanted to get over that topic, and not expose herself. Not just because it was embarrassing, but also because she did not want her newfound, well, friend to suddenly think worse of her just due that. Maybe a diversion would do. “Well, even if you think so, I just can’t. I’m an abnormality, you know? I’ve been tested for that kind of stuff, I really do not have a shred of magical capability, I would always have to use some kind of mechanism. And that’s why I can’t just go out there like young mages do, gesh, most people would shun me just for that. Also, I don’t really mind it. I fit into this kind of life somewhat, so I can’t complain too much.” Okay, the last part was really, really close to a lie. She did not like this kind of life too much. But on the other hand, she really had no right at all to complain, no moral high-ground. This was, in the end, the logical way for things to come by. Thus, she had long since surrendered herself to that fate.
