- - - - - Huh.. well at least it was good to know that the blonde boy- and yes, she acknowledged him as a boy, not a man, because a man knew how to make good decisions instead of lying through his teeth - smartened up a bit after her abrupt lecture. "Just try not to end up in two pieces by the time we finish this?"
From where they stood right now, it wouldn't be obvious to most that there was an ancient, powerful presence lurking somewhere within the confines of this temple, but to those with any sense of common knowledge, they would've probably formed a theory by then. "The oxygen mask gives us about 5 minutes of breathin' time before we needa get refill it. I ain't sure if there's any space in the temple that ain't filled up with water, but we'll just have to wait n' see."
As for the whole business about what seemed to be a hypnotic air surrounding them right then, the General could hardly feel it. It was there, she was certain of it, but with her level of magic, she could hardly feel anything of the sort. She wasn't sure just how powerful her partner was, but right then, nothing should be underestimated. Water was an unforgiving element, and no matter how powerful a mage was, when water enters the lungs, its pretty much all over then. "Yeah.. a bit."
After withdrawing another handy tool from her pocket and tossing it over to Mr Blondie, AJ sincerely hoped that this man was smart enough to use a flashlight, regardless of how small it was. "Stay close. Don't wander off. If there's anything, alert me with a tap to my shoulder and I'll do the same, because otherwise I might accidentally break your entire arm. Should we get separated, meet me back here. And.. oh, almost forgot. Don't try to be a goddamned hero."
And with such a good note to start off this exploration with, it was only a matter of seconds before they dove in. Being the more experienced one, and obviously the one who was more level-headed, she took the lead, pressing the little oxygen mask to her mouth and jumped straight into the pool of water.
At first, everything seemed dark, which was pretty cliche, considering that anyone with any knowledge on adventure movies would've known what happens by then. Should Alduin choose to join her, what came next was really.. too over the top, in a sense. The temple doors closed behind them with a loud rumble, as air bubbles formed everywhere, disrupting their vision for a brief few seconds, though thankfully nothing happened in between this short period of time.
Surprisingly, the entire scene within the temple wasn't dark at all. In fact, there were tiny sources of light coming from almost everywhere, almost as if whomever resided in this place had expected guests. Well, the Knights had surveillance cameras almost everywhere, so there's no reason for these people to not have any of those, despite being a few hundred feet underwater and such.
Glancing upwards, one could see a small space at the top of the temple that wasn't filled with water. An air pocket for them to recharge, so that would come in pretty damn handy. Otherwise they would've needed to rush against time before they were forced to use their own lung capacity for the entire duration of this exploration.
At the moment, the both of them were in what was supposedly the main hall. Green, moldy statues decorated each corner of the room; moldy ancient inscriptions lined the walls; pretty much everything in the room was moldy, but that's to be expected, since they were underwater, and no one has ever explored this dungeon. Or rather, no one has ever explored this dungeon and survived.
Ahead of them right then were three paths. One barely illuminated, one that's brightly lit, and one in between. Since they had absolutely no clue what they were dealing with here, it was more than likely that they'd have to randomly select one of these pathways and go straight ahead. If it was a trap, they'd have to deal with it. If it wasn't, then.. well.. good.
With a small tap to Alduin's shoulder, AJ pointed to all three available routes, signalling for him to choose which one they should embark on first. Of course, it isn't going to be an easy decision, but when it comes down to it, there really is no right or wrong, considering that they had no idea what to expect when they entered this place to begin with.
