The capital was a place Skylar had been before, but this trip had come with a few very specific goals in mind for the young royal. The plan was simple...go to Crocus, slip his escort, and find some time in the city on his own. Was it a smart plan? No...but his logic was that as he was outside of his own country, few people would realize who he was. He was neither the first prince who had run away from home, nor the second prince who was technically the heir. Instead, Skylar was the baby, and the baby was what he would happily be if it meant that he would be able to move through the city relatively undetected.
Of course, not being THAT stupid, he had taken some precautions. He wore a white toque, simple black military jacket style jacket, blue jeans and rugged black boots as well. Hardly the outfit of a royal from Balbadd, and hardly something that would draw too much attention in Crocus of all places. Large groups of people, a dense population, and probably the single largest city in all of Fiore, Skylar felt like he was a tree hiding in a forest, which is also the reason why it took his guards, who had been trained to not only protect him, but track him after he had slipped them so many times, had no chance.
Even if his plan proved to be a crap-shoot, in a worst case scenario he would rely on his own training to stay out of trouble...and if even that failed, he had his magic. Naturally using magic, especially that kind of magic in a place like Crocus during day light hours and in front of so many people was not a part of the plan. However, he knew that if he was left no choice he would have to do so...in spite of whatever punishment he knew he would face in the end. The Iron Dragon Slayer lacrima had been implanted into his body over a decade ago...but only now had the power begun to surface, and only now had he started to be given lectures about why that power should remain hidden...so that the countries enemies wouldn't find out about it, and as a result his weaknesses.
But now he was focused on where he was presently. Skylar had reached a roof-top, among several others above a market place. The stone room was sturdy, and he enjoyed watching everything around him, as he felt like he was finally getting an un-filtered view of the world around him. This wasn't the first time he had broken free of his guards to check things out...but it was the first time he had done it in Crocus, and this city had a lot to offer a young and inexperienced mind.
Sadly, it wasn't all just shopping, laughing, and jokes. From the roof-top, Skylar could see three men, tailing a young woman. What they wanted he didn't know, but they were clearly up to something with their dark hoodies and shady appearance. Combined with the look of worry on her face, and the constantly accelerating pace she walked with...it was all quite clear. Skylar was now faced with a choice. Intervene and risk blowing his cover, and getting into a ton of trouble...or go and help her.
