I am posting now to bring up three topics. The first is a change to how Dungeons work, the second is a change to how threads work and the third is something I want to get under control.
Dungeons are going to be changed. I originally thought it would be fun to race to the end. It would be something competitive and plot driven. However, there are ways in which this can be abused, and it wouldn't be fun if drama started from two people wanting the same Djinn. As such, by default reserves will only cover the group reserving.
Others will only be allowed to join if the reserving group says they can. Still, if the Dungeon is abandoned or those entering fail, the Dungeon will be open for others.
Next is the matter of threads. We will be incorporating a thread cap. Before anyone starts to worry, this is not going to affect most members on the site. That's because this cap will be a number like 6+ threads. The reason this is being incorporated is that, although it's nice that someone is threading a lot and with a lot of people, roleplaying is not just about posting. There should be plot and content. Also, it protects members from people creating or joining a bunch of threads and not replying regularly.
At this time the plan is to have it set to 6-10 threads. Somewhere in that range. I would like to hear member input on what this value should be.
The final topic is one of respect. Our members come from a variety of roleplaying and non-roleplaying backgrounds, so I feel it is necessary to mention this.
So you are looking through the threads on the board and you see one that says open in the title. Before you start to think that open means open, please understand that it can be taken a variety of ways. Some members when they put 'Open' they mean open, but they'd like people to talk to them before joining.
That's why you should always talk to the creator of a thread before posting. Unless they posted in the partner search (even then if the thread has already started moving, you should still ask), or they say somewhere in the opening post that it is open to everyone, you should talk to the person before joining.
Thank you for reading. If there are any questions, please post them here or PM me.
