The USS Odyssey, outfitted with the fastest warp speed engine in the whole galaxy, has been sent on the longest mission ever recorded. Longer than even the Voyager journey from the Delta Quadrant. The USS Odyssey has been sent to fly as far as it can through the universe, and begin the return trip in 500 years time. The ship had been set up with special communication relays so the crew may communicate with Earth, but the crew is to never return home, and they know it.
The Odyssey has been on the move for a little over 450 years, still on their mission, communicating with Starfleet Command when necessary, averaging Warp 9.9 over the years, having already gone through the Andromeda Galaxy, with some difficulties, reaching the edge of the Triangulum Galaxy.
The crew is the descendants of the original crew, who were ejected from the ship when they died, and have lived together. While not all of the crew know each other, such as in a high school one might not know everyone, but this crew is a tight knit group, never setting foot on their home planet, knowing they will never set foot on their home planet, and almost no one is a pure human or even alien.
