"Ah, well then 'not-Judas,' er, Daniel, it is still a pleasure to make your acquaintance," Beo the Friendly said, reveling in the trust his apparently new-found ally placed in him so soon. Surely this was due largely in part to the many stories that Beo supposed passed between people of every village of every nation in this world. The stories of his exploits were likely exchanged by even the most passing of strangers, as a way of breaking the ice perhaps, and most likely caused people to become instant friends, bonding over the many tails and shared fandom of Beo the Very Widely Spoken Of.
But that was not what mattered at this instant, though it brought a slight smile to Beo's face, blocked by his magnificent mustache. What mattered now was that the man he was speaking to was a fellow God Slayer, the Iron God Slayer at that. And he had said something peculiar, a one word hint at his past, or of some knowledge that he had not shared yet.
"'Back there'? Are you from Kou then?" Beo asked, trying to find out as much about the man who had lied to him of his identity as possible in as short a time as possible. This was not out of any sort of distrust, for Beo the Giver of the Benefit of the Doubt distrusted his friends not at all, but instead out of an interest of his friends' livelihoods and pasts. He continued, "Regardless, yes, but that was more than 7 years ago. He had hinted at a... What was the phrase he used again? 'Another side-project' I believe were his words. I am not certain what his main project would be in that case, but it appears we may be nothing but a passing fancy."
The idea of being a passing fancy annoyed Beo the Proud to no end. He had saved countless lives, slain the most horrible monsters imaginable, defeated the most impossibly strong opponents and garnered great fame from it all, so being a "passing fancy" was nothing short of an immense insult to his pride. But that would never truly bother Beo. Oh no, for no one knew him as Beo the Proud in truth, for he was often called Beo the Humble, and as the most humble fellow in all the world, Beo would never get enraged by such a passingly ridiculous idea as someone thinking he was a "passing fancy."
