Claire Durand So, what to do next? To be frank, Claire really did not know. Being a princess was all fine and dandy, yes, but when all those formal functions et cetera were over, well, there wasn’t too much to do. And it was not like she could just up and leave, going for the town or something like that – although she did that from time to time – because that took planning, to make sure she could either go incognito or guarded. Nothing one could do on a whim, but the things she could do on a whim, well, those were kind of not satisfying her. Reading some book was a time investment she did not want to make, and there was no one interesting around, either, with both her sisters and the more talkative servants and ministers gone. In fact, she was kind of hiding from her tutor in finances, for reasons she did not want to disclose just yet. Hence, the gardens. One could get lost in those, after all, unless one was a member of the royal family, or someone else who had a lot of time to spend here. The weather was rather inviting to this, after all, with a soft breeze going along quite well with the afternoon sun, enabling her to just wear a simple dress and not much more. It was a rather secluded place, not just because of its somewhat confusing layout, but also due to exclusivity. The days of the open garden were still far gone, and thus there were not even any guards in here – whoever got in here unnoticed would easily circumvent those too, after all. And that meant no one would be bothered by her humming along, as she just walked with her eyes closed almost as if sleepwalking, simply because she knew this place inside out.
