- - - - - Entertainment was definitely the word that personified the town of Akane. Aside from the main resort itself, even the locals were celebrating in the streets. To compare it to a modern day term, it could be seen as the Mardi Gras of Fiore. Now, Mirana wasn't the type of girl who liked partying, drinking and all of that, and hell, she's straight edge, so alcohol consumption would be the last thing in her mind then. She was here for one thing, and one thing only. There was a regional mixed martial arts tournament in the resort, held by organizers that her academy was affiliated with, and naturally, being one of their top - if not the top performers that they have, she was sent here as the pride and honor, so to speak.
The train ride leading up to the current time had definitely been uneventful, but like most of her long journeys, she kept herself occupied pretty well. There was a duffel bag slung over her shoulders, which contained a few changes of clothes and her novellas, as well as the registration forms for the tournament. At the moment, she was simply walking through the party filled streets of Akane, occasionally asking the locals for directions to the lodge that she's been assigned to. All was well, and as per usual, she's only doing whatever's necessary of her, paying no attention to her surroundings whatsoever.
That is, until a loud scream echoed throughout the entire town. All traces of music were toned down, and every single living being fell into a silent hum. The only audible sounds stemmed from a person, with skin as pale as the moonlight, pinning another woman down, and..
"What.." Shock, was then overcome by a slight emotion of fear, as it took Mirana a mere three simple seconds to realize what was going on. Of course, it wouldn't take a genius to figure it out, what with the recent news reports and all, but to see it happen right in front of her like this, she felt her nerves tighten up, and a lump forming in her throat. The case was confirmed when the woman that had been pinned, started rising in a state of unholy, inhumane cracks and twitches of her limbs, and right in the middle of her neck stood a mortal wound which, frankly, no one could have ever survived in their wildest dreams.
Almost immediately, a loud siren erupted from the town's PA system, where an operator could be heard telling people to head indoors immediately, barricading doors, windows and any open or vulnerable places in their household. That announcement, instead of helping people, it drove them into a frenzied state, where everyone ran in all directions, trying to get to somewhere safe. Staying true to her own nature, the blonde schoolgirl remained calm as best as she could, even though she sustained a slight sprain on her ribs when someone shoved her down on the floor when they brushed past.
Those zombies, although the dangers of their full capabilities have yet to be seen, moved pretty slow. But as slow as they are, they make up for in numbers, spreading their deceased diseases and increasing their horde.
Thankfully for Mirana, those classes and constant training sessions in mixed martial arts proved their worth on that day. Even though she was just a normal human being without any traces of magic inside her body whatsoever, she'll be damned if she gets turned into one of Them without putting up a fight, but location has got to be her worst enemy right then. As she took off running, she had no idea where she was going, and no idea where she should be going. Her parkour expertise made it easier for her to maneuver her way around obstacles and different objects, and she even leapfrogged over the top of a zombie's head by using the lid of a closed dumpster. All the while still holding onto her duffel bag. Hey, there were some expensive gear in there, and she couldn't risk losing them just because of a zombie apocalypse, right?
Still, with each passing second, doubt started to form in the girl's mind. She had no idea how she could avoid those zombies much longer. And with her bruised ribs, she could only run so far before her breathing completely goes off balance. Right now, the girl took refuge between a pile of cardboard boxes and a dumpster. It sure wasn't the best place in the world to hide scent-wise, but she needed a moment to catch her breath.
Maybe she should head towards the resort, but who knows if they've barricaded the place? Ah well, only one way to try. The longer she stays at one spot, the more chances there are of the horde finding her.
