"Ah - thank God..." It was fun to go back and forth with heated exchanges and really show the world their megalomania, but she couldn't lie; she enjoyed their softer conversations a lot. Maybe it was hypocritical because perhaps she showed the same vulnerability with her own softer side, but she couldn't help but like spotting that side of her sister that the rest of the world never got to see. Most importantly, she was glad her sister was fine. There was only one problem with that sentence, really, and that was the mention of the sprained rib. Now, when the gears inside of her head started moving, she wondered if maybe that had been caused by something other than a gymnastics incident, with all of the crap happening around the place. And, that injected her with a nice dose of concentrated worry. "But your ribs..."
It was always nice to have someone to confide in, to be consoled by. In a world like Earthland riddled with zombie outbreaks and malicious organizations, the one precious thing could be your sanity life line. For Julia, Mirana was that. If that were to poof, she didn't even want to think about how much she'd degrade psychologically. Moments like these, where she found herself in the embrace of another, the gesture showed her that someone was there for her, and in this crapsack world she hoped to save from evil, she... no, it was more than that. Julia knew well enough that, because of certain despicable Knights that chose to abuse their power and mock all what a Rune Knight stood for, their public image had been marred. Despite her attempts at embellishing the image by doing the best she could, the damage had been done, and she had more often than not been subject to the disdain of the people, even if all she wanted to do was help them.
Thankfully, she was thick skinned. Even if they despised her, she would continue being their guardian because that was what she felt was right. The point was Mirana didn't hate her, she cared for her, and it was nice knowing that there was someone out there in the masses of people that hated her, that actually appreciated and cared about her, and acknowledged what she did, even if said person loathed the concept of her doing this all for people that didn't appreciate it. Not even Julia knew why she wanted to keep protecting people who thought she was just another oppressive officer, and honestly, there were - no, there were a lot of times where she just wanted to forsake that duty and stay with her sister. Heck, maybe that ultimately was what she wanted in the end. But she couldn't, not yet, not while she felt that she was carrying out her own personal sacred duty.
"You know I'd love that, but... I have to protect the people..."
She was relieved to know the zombies hadn't touched Mirana yet, even though it didn't get rid of all of her worry. On the downside, she knew that statement unfortunately had a high chance of irritating her sister. After all, her kin couldn't understand why exactly she put her life on the line for the people. As her sister, she knew Mirana's very misanthropic notions, and she understood them well enough, but she just couldn't... bear the idea of idling, while others risked their lives to protect people. Julia wished to help with the endeavor as much as she could. She was going to help keep the world clean, void of any taint, in hopes of brightening her sister's future a little more.
"Y-Yes... I was helping someone with something before we were assaulted by them. I've fought my share of them, and I do hope to liberate the masses of this... morbid happening... but, my biggest priority is keeping them away from you."
The blonde knight cleared her throat. It was visible how her already demeaned spirits dropped a little bit more, and in turn she became the one in need of consoling, which was precisely why she rested her head on Mirana's shoulder. There was something she needed to talk about, but she didn't want to throw it all onto her sister yet. She wanted to be progressive about it, give her a heads up, and most of all, make it obvious that what she was about to say was... very grave in nature.
"Mira... I've called you here for three things... to see you, to check up on you, and well... to talk to you about something." | @tag |
