- - - - - There was little they could do about the high speed regeneration that this mutated creature had within its disposal. Plus, who knew if the whole headshot thing would actually work against it? It was certainly worth a try because they did not even have a lead right now. There was, however, another alternative. Why bother targeting one single body part when you can just blow the entire thing up in one blow? Okay, maybe neither one of them lacked the ability to do so at the moment, but it was a good idea that could be utilized for when she gets a little more powerful.
The cyborg did not, however, expect her temporary ally to suddenly fall back in retreat, leaving the monstrous creature with only one target left in its sights, and with another ear piercing wail, it started moving forward. Its one weakness was still the speed of its main body, but when it came to the tentacles that protruded and surrounded it, those were fast. Extremely fast. Rome might be able to outrun them, but it would take a lot out of her as well.
With a quick left jab to the side of an oncoming zombie's skull, the force of that impact alone was enough to render it lifeless once more. Upon reactivating and reentering her state of enhanced speed and strength, the cyborg quickly started running backwards, using various obstacles to get herself up to the rooftop of a random building, knowing for sure that her best chance to fight this beast would be to even out their height. Otherwise, she would only be a sitting duck for its dangerous tentacles.
As the creature closed in, Rome activated another one of her abilities, transforming her entire right arm into that of a living-bionic weapon, in the shape of a curved crescent blade - a bigger version of the scythe, if you will, but without the handle. It took the creature no less than a few more seconds to finally approach her, but just as the cyborg prepared herself for the oncoming clash, the mutated undead creature stooped, right about 10 feet ahead of where she stood. For some reason, it turned its head to the left, perhaps catching something of interest within its line of sight, but before Rome could even see what it fixed its attention to, the creature lunged its tentacles forward.
It was when the beast hoisted up its prey that the cyborg could actually begin to see the form of a pretty 20 year old teenage girl. The human's eyes widened with fear, and she struggled with all her might to free herself from this ensnarement, but try as she might, her efforts were futile, compared to the strength and numbers of those tendrils. What Rome hadn't expected proceeded to come next, because as soon as the creature lifted up her prey to the point of them being face to face, the cyborg thought for sure that dinner was the only thing in the mutated creature's mind. That, however, didn't seem to be the case, because as soon as they closed in on each other, the creature slithered her tongue deep within the girl's throat. Or so it seemed.
Widened eyes slowly grew to become eyes that almost rolled to the back of her head. The struggling body slowly went limp. Yet, the most noticeable of all changes that happened to the girl was perhaps the most significant. Her skin slowly started to grow green. Once beautiful eyes became two dead slits of yellow. Fingers became sharpened claws. And two bulges slowly started protruding from the girl's back, to the point of ripping apart her tank top, revealing what was underneath, yet the horrid mutation did little to draw the usual perverted glances from men and the occasional women. Once the tentacled mutated creature parted its lips from its newly converted minion, all that was reminiscent of the once pretty girl's form were the tattered remains of shorts and bits of fabric hanging loosely from her mutated body.
Right now, it resembled a really ugly, really large dog more than a human being, and Rome knew for a fact that she was going to have to be the one who dealt with this thing. Why? Because it pounced, directly from the rooftop of the other building across the street, towards where she was standing, in the blink of an eye.
